Giving Back

My Journey

When I moved to Asia in 2014, I took a leave of absence from my corporate job and decided to give back to the community. I chose to volunteer for organizations where I could make a tangible difference in women’s life and started to serve on the Board of a couple of not-for-profit associations.

Between 2015 and 2020 I served for Tabitha Foundation and Nokor Tep Society Singapore. After an initial time as Vice President & Communications Lead, I took over the role of President. In this capacity, I led a committee of 12 passionate and committed volunteers (and a wider team of 36 people) to support Tabitha Foundation in Cambodia - a sustainable not-for-profit organization aiming at lifting underprivileged Cambodian families out of poverty through different programs on personal and financial development.

In 2016 I began my journey with PrimeTime, Business and Professional Women’s Association, where I held various positions until I took on the role of President at the start of Covid. It was in that last and most extraordinary fourth term on the board that I learnt a lot about flexibility, adaptability, resilience and self-compassion, while delivering events (mainly online) to professional women looking for opportunities to connect and grow during the pandemic.

In 2020, I also began my engagement as a Mentor for the NUS Global Mentorship Program at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and one year later I added the mentoring of the Women In Business Program (Endorsed by NUS Business School). In that capacity, I support young women as they finish their studies and embark on their professional life.

Though I believe empowerment is important for every human being regardless of gender, I have seen too many women holding back from their full potential for cultural and social reasons or for lack of courage and support.

So, as I continue to mentor young women at NUS. In 2022 I decided to open up three slots per year to coach women who can’t pay for my fees.

I work with women who are at cross-roads in their life. I support them in understanding  who they are, what they want, and what is important for them moving forward. Then, we explore options for a career change or reinvention and develop concrete steps and actions to transition into their new career. This enables them to get back that sense of satisfaction of having a meaningful life.

Supporting women is what I enjoy most and where I can make a difference leveraging my coaching and mentoring skills together with my not-for-profit and corporate experience.
